About The Position

The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions is recruiting for a Correctional Supervisor with the Central Transportation Unit (CTU) in Anchorage, Alaska. This role involves scheduling and coordinating prisoner movements within and outside Alaska to support population management, required services, and inter-agency transport needs. The incumbent will ensure efficient utilization of transportation staff, vehicles, and other resources while coordinating closely with partner law enforcement agencies. Responsibilities include overseeing department-wide selection, training, qualification, and requalification of Prisoner Transportation Officers. The position also involves working with facility leadership to arrange airlifts and other transport modes for routine, emergency, high-profile, or special-handling transports in compliance with policy and safety standards, as well as managing vehicle readiness, authorizing maintenance and repairs, and procuring necessary security equipment, weapons, ammunition, and related unit supplies.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of the Alaska Correctional Officer Academy or the equivalent program accredited by the Alaska Police Standards Council.
  • One year experience performing lead work over employees engaged in security duties which support the custody, security, and reformation of prisoners in an adult correctional institution.
  • Two years' experience performing, supervising, managing, or administering probation/parole functions and services for an adult offender population in an institutional or community setting equivalent to an Adult Probation Officer 3 in a lead capacity with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
  • Two years' experience training, guiding, or evaluating lower level Correctional Officers as a designated Field Training Officer.
  • Be 21 years of age and a United States citizen or a United States National.
  • Have a high school or home school diploma recognized or certified by a state or a local school district within a state as having met that state's graduation requirement; or have a General Educational Development certificate.
  • Possess a valid driver's license issued within the United States at time of appointment.
  • Must not have been convicted of any felony or a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
  • Must not have been convicted during the past ten (10) years of a crime of dishonesty or moral turpitude, of a crime that resulted in serious physical injury to another person, or of two or more driving under the influence offenses.
  • Must not have illegally manufactured, transported, or sold a controlled substance during the past 10 years, provided you were under 21 years of age at the time.
  • Must not have illegally used a Schedule IA, IIA, IIIA, IVA, or VA controlled substance during the past 5 years, provided you were at least 21 years of age at the time.
  • Must not have used marijuana during the last year, provided you were at least 21 years of age at the time.
  • Must not have been denied certification by the Alaska Police Standards Council or the responsible certifying agency in any other issuing jurisdiction unless the denial, revocation, or surrender has been rescinded.
  • Must not have ever used a controlled substance while employed as a certifiable municipal, state, federal peace officer, correctional officer, adult probation officer, or military law enforcement officer.

Responsibilities
