About The Position

Correctional and supervisory work involving direction of a major section of a correctional facility during a shift. Duties include instruction, deployment and supervision of security and operations staff in accordance with established regulations, policies and procedures, and response to emergencies as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of an administrative superior. All employees of the Agency of Human Services perform their respective functions adhering to four key practices: customer service, holistic service, strengths-based relationships and results orientation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher AND two (2) or more years of work experience INCLUDING one (1) year in a correctional institution involving the custody of inmates.
  • Associates degree AND four (4) or more years of work experience INCLUDING three (3) years in a correctional institution involving the custody of inmates.
  • High school diploma or equivalent AND five (5) or more years of work experience, INCLUDING three (3) years in a correctional institution involving the custody of inmates.
  • Four (4) or more years of military experience AND one (1) or more years in a correctional system involving the custody of inmates.
  • A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
  • Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
  • Previous institutional employers will be contacted and required to provide information regarding substantiated incidences of sexual abuse or resignation during a pending investigation of an allegation of sexual abuse.
  • Candidates who have any felony conviction record or who, within the past five (5) years, have been placed under supervision or sanctioned for a misdemeanor conviction must receive a waiver from the Commissioner of Corrections in order to be considered for employment.
