Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation Management or equivalent area of study required.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of fleet management experience.
  • Must have managed in-house maintenance for a fleet of 250+ for at least 3 years.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with electronic fleet management systems, telematics and performance reporting to manage maintenance, utilization, fuel, cost and asset data.
  • Strong P&L, forecasting, and budgeting experience (development and ongoing maintenance).
  • Track record of success managing preventative maintenance program; must be able to explain and demonstrate applied methodologies in life-cycle costing of fleet assets.
  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Makes analytical decisions and is accountable for all actions made by a department or group.
  • Uses a high degree of analytical ability using sound judgment acquired through significant experience to solve complex and varied problems that could result in substantial loss of reputation.
  • Has significant knowledge of an advanced discipline with a working knowledge of related fields.
  • Has significant knowledge of the organization, work environment and process.
  • Has knowledge to direct multiple functions and/or departments with full responsibility for operational level.
  • Strong business math skills for analyzing bids, calculating interest charges and selecting amortization schedules when evaluating vendor proposals.
  • Ability to read and understand lease and contract documents.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in giving prompt attention to (internal) customer concerns and/or inquiries.
  • Ability to negotiate terms, conditions, and service levels.
  • Self-motivated, strong organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, plans and executes a company-wide fleet strategy, including budget, policies, programs, and procedures that meet customer demands, operational needs, budgetary constraints and company sustainability goals while maximizing the Company’s ROI.
  • Develops and executes a life cycle strategy for vehicle replacements, equipment, and graphics. Presents statistics to leadership including mileage, repair costs and depreciation. Advises on lease versus buy decisions.
  • Plans, coordinates and executes all vehicle acquisitions, graphics, leasing, delivery and disposal processes for current communities, new acquisitions and divestitures.
  • Monitors and generates reports on fleet performance including utilization, maintenance costs, graphics costs, fuel program compliance, leases, and safety metrics. Analyzes data and provides recommendations for operational improvements, cost reduction, fleet and optimization strategies.
  • Maintains accurate records and ensures compliance with current applicable federal, state and local laws, permits, licenses, report filings, insurance, registration, and safety regulations.
  • Oversees Department of Transportation (DOT) related training, compliance, reporting, and audit process for Commercial Motor Vehicle and CDL drivers. Develops and maintains an overall driver safety program including training, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks, accident reduction, and oversight of the MVR (Motor Vehicle Records) process.
  • Responds to fleet email box inquiries. Engages in workgroups to improve processes for vehicles and drivers. Supports transportation and fleet innovation projects.
  • Attends Emergency preparation and response calls; Advises Emergency Command Center and Field Operations on emergency evacuation transport options. Secures appropriate evacuation and return transportation to meet resident needs. Provides timely updates for the Emergency Manual.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with external vendors, service providers, and vehicle manufacturers including supporting Procurement with negotiating contracts, warranties, incentives/discounts, vehicle lease buyouts and service agreements to optimize fleet efficiency and minimize costs.
  • Implements and monitors a comprehensive fuel program that minimizes costs and theft exposure while maximizing vehicle utilization rates.
  • Assists applicable departments in the development and submittal of Capital Expense Requests for Fleet related equipment.
  • Reports the purchase and disposal of all capital assets to the Accounting Department.
