About The Position

The Copy Editor supports aligned Managing Editors and dedicated accounts with editing, proofreading, data checking, submissions, and other editorial tasks as requested. Responsibilities are coordinated with the lead editor in conjunction with Traffic Management. The role may be based remotely from home or at Lockwood’s headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least 5 years of medical editing experience.
• Medical editing experience.
• Publications experience.
• Experience with EndNote.

Nice To Haves

• Experience editing across multiple therapeutic areas and media formats.

Responsibilities

• Support Managing Editors and their aligned teams in addressing daily and evolving needs.
• Maintain knowledge of relevant style guidelines for aligned accounts, including client-specific, AMA, and Chicago styles.
• Contribute to maintaining and updating the Editorial SOP, the list of frequently encountered editorial questions and issues, and team-specific requests and preferences.
• Address copy-editing questions from scientific directors and other team members.
• Review content for grammatical and stylistic standards and, when requested, assess its sense and narrative.
• Demonstrate flexibility, innovation, and independent judgment.
• Communicate in a timely manner with relevant departments, including Accounts, Scientific, and third-party contributors.
• Perform editing, proofreading, data checking, submissions, and other editorial tasks as requested.
