About The Position

GHD is seeking an Environmental Project Coordinator to join our Environmental Assessment and Remediation group. In this role, you will support our Project Managers and Project Directors in the execution of major projects in the mining and oil and gas sectors. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong client relationships, contributing to the planning and coordination of site assessments, analyzing environmental data, and developing environmentally responsible solutions to meet regulatory requirements. This position can be based in one of our offices in the Greater Toronto Area, Mississauga, Markham, Edmonton, Montreal, Brossard, Laval, Quebec City, Halifax, Fredericton, St. John’s, Calgary, or Vancouver.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, geology, environmental science, or a related field.
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in contaminated site environmental assessment, rehabilitation, and restoration.
  • Practical experience in field assessments, technical report writing, and project coordination/management.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle.
  • Hold the ASP Construction card.

Nice To Haves

  • Holding (or in the process of obtaining) an engineering license from the Ordre des ingénieurs (OIQ) or a geologist license from the Ordre des géologues du Québec (OGQ) will be considered an asset.
  • Experience on projects in the mining and/or oil and gas sectors is an asset.
  • Experience with oil and gas sites is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Environmental characterizations and rehabilitation plans: Plan and implement technical and scientific solutions to bring sites to closure, including environmental assessment, rehabilitation, and/or risk assessment, in accordance with applicable organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Team collaboration: Work within a multidisciplinary team and collaborate closely with other project coordinators, project managers, project directors, technical leads, as well as field technicians, scientists, and engineers.
  • Professional coaching: Provide effective support, both in the field and in the office, to foster the professional development of less experienced environmental practitioners. Contribute to resource planning, and to the improvement of systems and processes, to ensure quality service delivery, within agreed timelines and budgets, while meeting client expectations.
  • Project coordination: Support project managers and directors from the proposal stage through execution, in accordance with our project management and quality performance indicators. You will contribute to a portfolio of projects under the business group lead, for multiple clients, in federal and provincial regulatory contexts. Experience with oil and gas sites is an asset.
  • Client and market relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, participate in industry networks, and collaborate with project managers and directors to enhance the client experience.
  • Health, safety, quality, and environment: Contribute to maintaining key performance indicators and expected behaviors in health, safety, quality, and environment.
  • Culture of innovation: Foster a culture of innovation by developing solutions with multiple stakeholders, encouraging creativity, innovation, and collaboration between teams and business units.
