About The Position

GHD is seeking a Project Manager to join its Contaminated Site Assessment and Remediation group. The Project Manager is responsible for the day-to-day planning and execution of assigned projects, using standardized Project Management Office (PMO) tools and proven work methods. This role includes coordinating teams, managing scope, timelines, and costs, as well as preparing deliverables that meet requirements for verification and approval. The hybrid work model combines in-person collaboration with flexibility, requiring three days per week in the office. The position can be based in Montreal (Downtown or Saint-Laurent), Laval, Brossard, or Quebec City.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in project management in environments requiring strong compliance and rigorous documentation.
  • Ability to manage scope, timelines, costs, and risks using a structured approach.
  • Excellent skills in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and various stakeholders, both in the field and in the office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce and manage periodic reports.
  • Experience in upstream support programs in the oil and gas industry (regulatory environments specific to basins or states/provinces) and/or in mine closure and tailings management programs.
  • Knowledge of structured delivery frameworks integrating quality assurance, verification, documentation, and audit trails into work processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Hold (or be in the process of obtaining) a professional engineer's license from the Ordre des ingénieurs (OIQ) or a geologist's license from the Ordre des géologues du Québec (OGQ).
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in environmental consulting, including environmental rehabilitation and site assessments, report writing, data management and interpretation, project coordination, and client management.
  • Availability and willingness to travel for client meetings.
  • Experience in high-volume programs using standardization and automation to improve efficiency.
  • Familiarity with analytical dashboards and data management practices supporting compliance monitoring and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and plan projects by applying rigorous project management practices (scope validation, project breakdown structure, planning, risk management, team integration).
  • Manage project execution and controls: track progress, issues, changes, and interdependencies; maintain complete documentation in the project workspace to ensure traceability.
  • Coordinate communications and approvals; ensure deadlines related to regulatory obligations and client requirements are met.
  • Manage suppliers and subcontractors in accordance with established procedures; ensure work plans and deliverables follow required verification processes.
  • Support digital field data collection and standardized reporting processes; contribute to dashboards and evidence packages used for program and project visibility.
  • Prepare deliverables and ensure they are ready for review, validation, and approval by the Project Director before external issuance.
  • Promptly report risks and deviations using leading indicators and defined thresholds to promote surprise-free execution.
  • Close projects with complete documentation, lessons learned, and required transfers.
