About The Position

GHD is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their Contaminated Site Assessment and Remediation group. The ideal candidate will have experience working with clients and on projects within the oil and gas sector, including upstream, midstream, downstream, or other energy-related activities. The Project Manager will lead the planning and execution of environmental assessment and remediation projects, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage scope, schedule, budget, and risks, and ensure high-quality client service and strong project outcomes for complex oil and gas sites. This position can be based in one of their offices in Montreal (Downtown, Saint-Laurent), Laval, Brossard, or Quebec City.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering projects for oil and gas or energy sector clients, responsible for client relationships, project performance, and delivery excellence.
  • Strong project management skills, including scope, schedule, cost, risk, and resource management, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams in a structured and practical manner.
  • Strong leadership skills with field and office resources, subcontractors, and cross-functional stakeholders in complex oil and gas project environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage client discussions, coordinate internal stakeholders, and produce clear project reports.
  • Solid experience with environmental projects in the oil and gas sector, including upstream, midstream, and downstream activities, field development, facility operations support, remediation, site assessments, or regulatory compliance programs.
  • Familiarity with structured delivery frameworks integrating quality assurance—verification, documentation, and audit trails—into workflows.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for client meetings, project coordination, and occasional field or site visits.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing environmental projects, with a focus on delivery consistency, documentation quality, and effective coordination between teams and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with analytical dashboards and data management practices that support compliance monitoring and decision-making.

Nice To Haves

  • Holding (or in the process of obtaining) a professional engineer's license from the Ordre des ingénieurs (OIQ) or a geologist's license from the Ordre des géologues du Québec (OGQ) will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of environmental projects for oil and gas facilities and sites, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, resources, and execution plans are clearly defined from project initiation to closure.
  • Manage the day-to-day execution of projects, including performance, risks, issues, changes, and interdependencies, while coordinating internal teams and external partners to ensure delivery, quality, and expected business outcomes.
  • Ensure communication and delivery of project deliverables for active oil and gas sector projects; keep clients and internal stakeholders informed of progress, financial performance, regulatory obligations, and upcoming milestones.
  • Coordinate vendors, subcontractors, and partner teams, ensuring consistent standards for field execution, site access requirements, health and safety expectations, and quality of results for oil, gas, and energy sector projects.
  • Support digital field data collection and standardized reporting workflows; contribute to dashboards and evidence files used to ensure project visibility.
  • Prepare and review technical and project deliverables, including reports, client updates, and regulatory documentation, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and readiness for internal approval and external submission.
  • Proactively manage client-related risks, deviations, and issues, using agreed-upon controls and established escalation mechanisms to support rigorous and predictable execution.
  • Drive project close-out activities, including complete documentation, lessons learned, continuous improvement actions, and effective handover between teams and client stakeholders.
