About The Position

The Cook prepares high-quality, appealing meals for residents and guests of Spring Arbor of Richmond, taking their tastes and dietary needs into account. The role focuses on making meals and food presentation part of a welcoming dining experience. The Cook supervises the kitchen under the direction of the Dining Services Director (DSD) and Chef/Lead Cook, and helps ensure kitchen operations meet food-quality, cost, safety, and company-policy standards.

This is a full-time position paying $16.00 per hour, based on experience. The stated schedule is Monday through Friday, with every other weekend required; evenings are also mentioned in the schedule information.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Be flexible and adaptable, attentive to detail, and team-oriented.
• Have good time-management skills and a strong awareness of safety.
• Possess a current manager-level food handler permit.
• Pass a criminal background screening.
• Adhere to the company Drug Free Workplace policy; associates are subject to its requirements.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of related cooking experience or equivalent.
• Some software and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare delicious, attractive, colorful, and tastefully presented food for meal service.
• Supervise the kitchen under the direction of the Dining Services Director and Chef/Lead Cook.
• Prepare high-quality meals consistent with local customs and tastes.
• Follow standard recipes, budgeted costs, and company policies.
• Supervise and/or assist with washing dishes, cookware, flatware, and utensils.
• Properly maintain kitchen equipment.
• Monitor water temperatures and/or chemical compounds as appropriate to help prevent foodborne illness and the spread of communicable disease.
• Interact with residents and associates in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.
