About The Position

This position is considered Seasonal Full-Time, with an approximate start date in March/April and running through December, including some downtime during the off-peak period. The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking meals in compliance with the 6-week cycle menu and other applicable, state, and federal standards. This role ensures compliance with food preparation and applicable sanitation standards and state regulations, maintains food item receipts, menu production records, and meal counts. The Cook also supervises and monitors Cook Aide(s) and volunteers, operates kitchen equipment safely, and maintains adequate inventory of kitchen supplies, food, and equipment. They must follow food budget guidelines, including local and vendor food purchasing and price comparisons, measure ingredients, follow recipes, and perform basic mathematical functions. Additionally, the Cook follows dietary guidelines and individualized meal plans, coordinates food delivery to classrooms, assists Teachers with food preparation and nutritional lessons, and implements center emergency procedures. The role requires the ability to meet deadlines, maintain organizational skills, and uphold confidentiality of CC Idaho clients and records, performing all duties in accordance with CC Idaho policies, procedures, and safety practices.

Requirements

  • Must obtain Food Handler’s Card within 30 days of hire
  • One-year experience in a commercial kitchen and/or school/child care kitchen setting.
  • Current driver's license and proof of auto insurance
  • Must pass physical examination and background checks, including state day care clearance
  • Must obtain clearance of Tuberculosis
  • Must obtain Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to read, speak, and write in both English/Spanish in a business setting
  • One to three months with related experience or training
  • Basic computer skills
