About The Position

Cooks provide daily culinary experiences for residents and guests through hands-on participation in the operation of the kitchen and dining room. The role involves preparing food from scratch and creating varied cuisines for residents and staff while serving balanced, nutritious meals that reflect residents’ wishes and requests. Management and team members provide training in the skills needed for the position. The company welcomes candidates from all industries, including people displaced from restaurant work and others passionate about customer service. Flexible schedules and excellent work hours are offered.

Requirements

• Basic culinary skills and willingness to cook from scratch and prepare a variety of menu items.
• Interpersonal relationship skills, passion, and empathy.
• Compassion for serving others.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Must pass a background check and TB test.
• Must obtain and maintain Serve Safe Certification.

Nice To Haves

• One to three years of experience in dietary or food services.
• Experience working in banquet or catering operations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare restaurant-quality meals and beverages for residents.
• Help create a varied, creative, and nutritious menu that considers residents’ requests; prepare daily specials and fill special orders.
• Follow posted schedules and work and cleaning assignments for the front and back of the house.
• Maintain proper food-handling and preparation hygiene and ensure sanitation of the food-service area and personnel according to State Health Department regulations.
• Set up food and supplies for special events in different areas of the community, coordinating with the building Executive Director and Lifestyle Director.
• Wear the proper uniform each day.
• Know and follow the employee handbook.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Culinary Director or Corporate Culinary Support Team.
