About The Position

The Cook 1 will prepare food items to order in a consistent manner, following recipe cards and production, portion, and presentation standards. The role includes completing mise en place and setting up a station for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner service while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment. The cook prepares made-ahead items in quantities aligned with estimated needs, monitors food storage and rotation, and helps control food costs, waste, loss, and usage. The position also requires working harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of culinary or related work experience.
• Intermediate culinary knowledge.
• Cooking school or culinary institute education, or equivalent experience.
• Proficient knife skills and ability to multitask.
• Working knowledge of computers.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and stand for 8 hours.
• Excellent interpersonal and time-management skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work autonomously.
• Fluency in English.
• Current authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items to order on the line and prepare items ahead of time without exceeding estimated needs.
• Operate, maintain, and properly clean kitchen equipment, including a deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven, steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron, and flat-top grill.
• Date food containers and rotate food according to policies; ensure perishables are stored at proper temperatures.
• Check pars for shift use, determine preparation needs, freezer pulls, and line setup, and report out-of-stock items or potential shortages.
• Return unused food items to designated storage areas and cover and date perishables.
• Assist in developing plans and actions to correct food-cost problems; control food waste, loss, and usage according to policies.
• Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.
• Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment.
