About The Position

The Convenience Store Associate works independently to display and stock products and contribute to the store’s financial interests. The role involves providing a positive guest experience while following company safety and food safety guidelines. Associates may also be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs, and additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

The position is located at 997 Butternut Street, Holland, Michigan 49424. The work takes place in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures and exposure to outside weather conditions. Noise is usually low to moderate, and travel requirements vary by assignment.

Requirements

• Good verbal communication skills and the ability to interact politely and effectively with customers.
• Good customer service and organizational skills; detail-oriented.
• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of prior retail or related experience.

Responsibilities

• Process financial transactions, including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, bottle refunds, voids, and coupons, accurately and in accordance with company policy.
• Assist with receiving, unloading, and stocking products in required store areas.
• Perform front-end duties, including operating the cash register, suggestive selling, enrolling guests in the loyalty program, and maintaining a clean and neat service area.
• Use product identification and corresponding PLUs correctly and report pricing or signage errors.
• Maintain knowledge of current store programs and product locations, including One More Item, and assist with execution of the department flight plan.
• Communicate company programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers and model high service standards.
• Follow company policies regarding security, cash handling and cash-drawer accounting, product handling, and the sale of alcohol and tobacco products.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked department and outside grounds, and ensure compliance with company safety and sanitation procedures and standards.
• Assist with stocking items on the sales floor, in the cooler, and in the back room.
• Follow PPE and safety guidelines.
• Follow food safety and cleaning expectations.
• Follow guest experience guidelines.
• Perform tasks in other departments when assigned based on customer experience needs.
• Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
