About The Position

Mechanical Resource Group (MRG) is looking for a Controls Technician. This role involves assisting in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) control systems. As an HVAC Controls Technician, you’ll work under the guidance of experienced technicians to ensure the proper functioning of HVAC systems and controls in various environments. A background in or familiarity with electronics, electrical systems, or HVAC is beneficial. Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years HVAC controls field experience OR relevant military experience.
  • Strong controls troubleshooting experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of both construction and services processes utilized in the fulfillment of HVAC services.
  • Knowledge of third-party control systems and integration platforms.
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to read and interpret plans and manuals.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a desire to exceed customer expectations.
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • A collaborative approach, personal accountability, and a commitment to continuous learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with electronics, electrical systems, or HVAC.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement complex HVAC control systems using Distech GFX and Niagara, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to develop controls engineers and programmers, reinforcing engineering standards and best practices.
  • Develop and review detailed control schematics, risers, and layouts to support accurate installation and commissioning.
  • Work closely with project managers, field technicians, and engineers to translate designs into executable systems.
  • Ensure all engineering deliverables meet MRG quality standards from design through final system turnover.
  • Support field execution and project delivery in coordination with Controls Operations.
  • Lead or support high-level system integrations, network strategy, and third-party coordination.
  • Provide advanced technical support, customer training, and system walkthroughs to ensure a successful handoff.
