The Controls Engineer has end-to-end ownership of equipment control systems, from scoping and estimating through design, panel construction, programming, integration, testing, and customer support. The role converts customer process and equipment requirements into complete control-system designs and prepares controls scopes and cost estimates for bids. The engineer selects components and vendors; creates electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and assembly documentation; and builds and wires control panels or guides and verifies work performed by the shop team and outside suppliers. The position programs PLCs and configures VFDs, HMIs, instrumentation, and communications, then integrates controls with equipment, calibrates instruments, and conducts factory acceptance testing before shipment. The role also maintains part numbers, bills of materials, drawings, programs, and technical documentation in the ERP system; drives continuous improvement through engineering change requests and improved design and assembly methods; and supports commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting remotely or at customer locations. The engineer will serve as the UL 508A Manufacturer Technical Representative once qualified. Work is split between the office and manufacturing floor, with regular shop-floor presence across shifts as needed, up to 5% travel, and occasional extended hours to meet project and delivery deadlines.
