About The Position

Solar Turbines Incorporated, a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc., is seeking a motivated, creative, high-performing entry-level engineer to join its Custom Solutions Engineering Value Stream team. The role works in a dynamic project-execution environment, collaborating with a mentor and multiple engineering disciplines to support customers and manufacturing. It is suited to an Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering graduate interested in electrical equipment design and programming and testing software for electro-mechanical systems. The engineer designs electrical hardware and control systems for gas turbines, power generators, natural gas compressors, and methane emissions reduction systems. Key deliverables include electrical schematic drawings and ladder-logic control software for programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Initial work may include software testing using simulation software to understand system operation. The role coordinates with Solar organizations and interfaces directly with external customers, and may involve travel for customer design reviews, HAZOP meetings, and field support. It also supports field personnel during commissioning and the resolution of safety-critical risk assessments.
