About The Position

Amentum is hiring a Control Tower Operator for a position on Kauai, Hawaii. The operator independently controls and manages air and ground traffic in controlled airspace to promote the safe, orderly, and expeditious movement of aircraft. The role supports airfield and range operations, operates control tower systems, assists with flight planning and air traffic information, and contributes to procedural development, inspections, reporting, and controller training. Requirements

Five years of progressively responsible experience in a related field, including at least two years in the specific field of assignment.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Formal military or civilian training as an Air Traffic Controller.
Valid FAA Control Tower Operator's License.
Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate, renewed yearly and certified in accordance with FAR Part 65.
Secret security clearance required; applicants must be U.S. citizens and either currently possess the clearance or be eligible to obtain it before employment and maintain it throughout employment.
Ability to perform the physical requirements, including sitting, frequent stair climbing, and lifting or pushing/pulling 1–10 pounds.

Responsibilities

Provide flight planning, clearance assistance, local weather conditions, and enroute traffic information to local and transient aircraft.
Provide ATC briefings to aircrews and facility visitors, including deploying units, as required.
Attend airfield meetings and briefings as required.
Maintain publications needed to ensure military and FAA published criteria are met.
Control air and ground activity within the airfield area during operationally active periods.
Maintain familiarity with Special Use Airspace.
Prepare and submit periodic reports in accordance with contract requirements.
Support operational requirements scheduled in the Range Scheduling System.
Operate and monitor control tower systems and equipment during Range Operations, ensuring the Range Control Officer is informed of air traffic within and near operational areas.
Assist in preparing and developing new procedures and procedural changes.
Operate the Enhanced Terminal Voice Switch (ETVS) and Visual Information Display System (VIDS).
Participate in the required Annual CNIC N32 Shore Installation Airfield Operations Evaluation Report, Annual Naval Safety Center Airfield Survey Reports, and Annual CNAF ATC NATOPS Evaluation Reports.
Assist in correcting discrepancy findings from Formal Navy Inspections and provide updates on corrections for monthly Plan of Actions Milestones (POAM) submittals.
Report airfield facility or equipment discrepancies and outages to the Air Operations Department within 15 minutes of reporting them.
Assist with training newly hired Air Traffic Controllers.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
