About The Position

This is an entry-level position responsible for performing routine on-site inspections of construction projects to support the monitoring of contracted construction activities, ensuring project progress and compliance with approved plans and specifications. The position assists with constructability reviews by examining construction documents to identify discrepancies, recommends improvements, and suggests cost-saving measures. Work also involves maintaining accurate and organized project records, logs, and documentation for reporting and reference purposes. The position also assists in reviewing applicable codes, ordinances, regulations, and technical materials to ensure adherence to established standards and requirements. The selected candidate will utilize a variety of tools, equipment, and computer systems in the performance of assigned duties and provide flexible support by performing other related work as required within the scope of the position.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in Structural or Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field.
  • One (1) year of experience in inspection, construction supervision or construction engineering.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class C driver's license.
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with stormwater management practices, Best Management Practices (BMP) installation, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Completion of OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety trainings.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine field engineering and administrative duties to monitor contracted construction, including conducting on-site inspections to track progress and ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Assists in reviewing construction plans and specifications to identify conflicts or discrepancies and recommends improvements or cost-saving measures.
  • Serves as a field liaison among architects, engineers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and senior staff to address and resolve field issues, changes, and project concerns.
  • Maintains accurate, complete and retrievable records and logs of project plans and reviews activities for inclusion into reports, or to provide information as requested.
  • Assists in reviewing documents, purchasing ordinances, building codes and applicable professional publications to assure maximum job proficiency.
  • May be required to utilize computer systems, inspection tools, and other relevant technologies to support construction monitoring, documentation, and reporting activities.
  • Willingly and cooperatively performs tasks and duties which may not be specifically listed in the class specification or position description, but which are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class of work.
