About The Position

The Legislative Services department of the Corporate Services and Public Safety division has an opportunity for qualified individuals to apply for the position of Contract, Lease and Bylaw Coordinator. Reporting to the Manager of Legislative Services, this position offers 72 hours bi-weekly, starting as soon as possible. The Contract, Lease and Bylaw Coordinator is responsible for the development and centralized administration of the RMOW’s contracts, agreements and leases. This position will work closely with all RMOW departments to develop and maintain a centralized records management system for both historical and current contracts, agreements and leases. This role will also draft and amend RMOW bylaws, respond to technical inquiries, prepare training resources and present to Council, Committees and internal working groups, as needed.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline such as law, public administration, business administration or equivalent discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar position in a municipal or similar setting.
  • Experience in the establishment of a records management system for contracts, agreements and leases.
  • Experience drafting and managing municipal bylaws, provincial legislation or other senior statutory instruments.
  • Knowledge of the Local Government Act, Community Charter and municipal bylaws.
  • Knowledge of the best practices, policies and procedures related to administration of contracts, agreements, and leases.
  • Experience reviewing, interpreting, drafting and amending bylaws.
  • Ability to conduct research, compile data, analyze information, manage and organize records digitally.
  • Bylaw drafting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage priorities, make decisions using critical thinking and work collaboratively toward solutions.
  • Commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace while contributing to a positive environment.
  • Valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence.
  • Satisfactory driver’s abstract.
  • Satisfactory Police Information Check.

Responsibilities
