About The Position

Waste Connections of Houston is seeking a safety-conscious CDL Route Driver in Houston, Texas. The position drives assigned routes to pick up and deliver recycling and garbage containers for new and existing customers. The driver safely, efficiently, and courteously serves customers while operating a CDL truck in residential, construction, commercial, and other environments. Work includes handling hydraulic controls to load and unload dumpsters, following route sheets, conducting vehicle inspections, and performing other assigned duties. The work is year-round and takes place outdoors in varied weather and around heavy diesel equipment; it involves strenuous physical activity and exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, fumes, vibration, and wet or humid conditions.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Have a satisfactory driving record.
Hold a Class A or Class B CDL.
Be able to work Monday through any day of the week, with work starting as early as midnight.
Be physically comfortable with the demands of the job, including strenuous activity and lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

Safely operate a CDL truck on assigned routes and provide customer service.
Drive in residential, construction, commercial, and other environments.
Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift and load dumpsters onto and off the truck.
Read route sheets and service each listed customer or customers assigned by the dispatcher.
Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
Interact courteously with customers.
Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
