Consumer Lending Specialist
About The Position
The Consumer Lending Specialist responds to loan inquiries and requests from current and potential members through phone calls and online channels, providing excellent service and identifying opportunities to improve members’ financial situations without hindering their long-term goals. The role uses a consultative approach to cross-sell loans and ancillary products and services that benefit members. The position handles loan origination and related activities, including processing online or electronic applications and submitting applications on consumers’ behalf by entering data into the loan origination system. The specialist follows up on pending applications to ensure they are complete and processed and funded in a timely manner, works to provide quick application turnaround, and maximizes funded applications through consistent follow-up. Requirements
- One to three years of similar or related experience.
- A two-year college degree, or completion of a specialized certification or licensing, specialized vendor training courses, or an apprenticeship program that provides job-specific skills.

- Identify opportunities to improve members’ financial situations without hindering their long-term goals.
- Cross-sell loans and ancillary products and services using a consultative approach.
- Originate loans, including handling online or electronic applications and submitting applications on consumers’ behalf through manual data entry into the loan origination system.
- Maintain and follow up on pending loan applications to ensure completeness and timely processing and funding.
- Ensure quick turnaround of loan applications.
- Consistently follow up on pending applications to maximize the number funded.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
