Consultant, Software Engineer
About The Position
Nationwide is seeking a Software Engineer to develop batch and online mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, IMS, and CICS/COBOL in the insurance and underwriting domains. The role also performs object-oriented programming with Java/J2EE, C, and Ruby on Linux; automates Guidewire Policy Center user uploads; and maintains and enhances batch processing activities using SOAP Web Services, Spring, REST APIs, and Linux. The engineer designs and architects database structures and supports and configures Guidewire Policy Center applications, including resolving system incident tickets. The position is hybrid in a normal office environment and may include on-call responsibilities after normal working hours and/or on weekends. The role regularly and consistently demonstrates Nationwide Values.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
- Five years of experience performing the duties listed in the job description.
Responsibilities
- Develop batch and online mainframe COBOL/JCL/DB2/IMS and CICS/COBOL applications in the insurance and underwriting domains.
- Perform object-oriented programming using Java/J2EE, C, and Ruby on Linux.
- Automate manual uploads of Guidewire Policy Center users.
- Maintain and enhance batch processing activities using SOAP Web Services, Spring, REST APIs, and Linux.
- Design and architect database structures using DB2, IMS, Oracle, SQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Support and configure Guidewire Policy Center applications and resolve system incident tickets.
- Regularly and consistently demonstrate Nationwide Values.
