About The Position

The Consultant, Software Engineer supports the design, development, operation, and continuous improvement of reusable enterprise AI platforms and services. Working within a cross-functional product and platform team, this role translates requirements into secure, reliable, and maintainable capabilities and contributes to shared patterns, reference architectures, controls, and accelerators. The role also supports production readiness, service management, observability, supportability, and cost visibility. It calls for foundational software engineering and cloud expertise, an AI-first and product-oriented mindset, learning agility, collaboration, and ownership of operational outcomes while navigating ambiguity. The engineer should recognize when to use a reusable platform capability rather than a one-off solution. The technical environment includes AWS AgentCore and AWS Bedrock; agent orchestration frameworks such as Strands; Model Context Protocol (MCP); model selection, evaluation, testing, versioning, deployment, monitoring, guardrails, and lifecycle management; token economics and AI cost optimization; reliability, observability, security, and cost controls; APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, containerization, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, and platform automation; and AI governance, responsible AI controls, and risk management. The position follows a hybrid work schedule, with in-office attendance two days per week in Columbus, Ohio (preferred), Des Moines, Iowa, or Scottsdale, Arizona. Current internal associates working remotely may also be considered. The position reports to a Technology Manager/Director. It is exempt and not eligible for overtime. Associates may have on-call responsibility after normal working hours and/or on weekends.
