S&ME is seeking a Construction Materials Engineering Technician to join their Construction Services team in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role involves testing concrete, soils, and asphalt to ensure the quality and safety of construction projects. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate Technician/Technician I: 0-2 years relevant experience
• Technician II: 2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent with an associate degree
• Technician III: 3+ years of relevant experience or equivalent with an associate degree
• Technician IV: 5+ years of relevant experience; prior leadership or mentoring experience is a plus
• Active Industry certifications such as: American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician and/or International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector, Reinforced Concrete and Masonry
• Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
• Basic math proficiency, including understanding of measurements and units of weight
• Understanding of a fluctuating schedule and interest in occasional travel
• A valid U.S. driver's license or an International Driving Permit (IDP) valid for driving in the United States, with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to safely operate a company-assigned vehicle, including trucks and SUVs
• Willingness to complete a background check, driving record check, and drug screen upon offer of employment

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree in a related field preferred for advanced levels
• Previous experience working in construction is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Performing field and laboratory testing on construction materials like concrete, asphalt, soil, and aggregates.
• Collecting and preparing samples for analysis.
• Interpreting test results and preparing detailed reports.
• Working closely with engineers, contractors, and project managers to ensure all work meets specifications and safety guidelines.
