About The Position

Bolton & Menk is hiring a Construction Management Intern for its 2027 summer internship season on the Municipal team in the Twin Cities Metro area. The intern will gain practical on-the-job experience serving municipalities, with most work involving construction-phase activities. The role supports civil engineering projects in construction, planning, and design. Some internship assignments may also involve reports, design calculations, specifications, and shop-drawing reviews. Relocation and housing are not included. Business-related travel is reimbursed.

Requirements

Be enrolled in a Construction Management degree program or a closely related program at an accredited post-secondary institution.
Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8; a GPA of 3.2 or above is desired.
Be able to work in extended outdoor conditions and physically navigate rugged terrain for construction observation duties.
Possess a valid driver’s license and own transportation, or have the ability to use public transportation.
Be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer without restriction; the company does not provide visa sponsorship or immigration support.

Nice To Haves

Sophomore status or above is desired.
Completed coursework in general surveying and construction management is desired.
Relevant experience may be considered depending on project or client complexity.
Preference may be given to students who have completed a previous internship with Bolton & Menk.

Responsibilities

Assist with civil engineering projects involving civil engineering, planning, and design.
Assist with preparing reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Assist with construction observation.
Perform construction staking.
Perform construction administration duties.
Depending on the assignment, work on reports, design calculations, specifications, and shop-drawing reviews.
