About The Position

Fort Myer Construction Corporation (FMCC) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Construction Contract Administrator / Paralegal to support contract management functions across public and private sector construction projects. This individual will manage, review, and maintain contracts with clients and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with legal standards and company policies. The ideal candidate will have excellent writing and communication skills, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in paralegal studies, Legal Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a paralegal or legal administrative role, preferably in construction law or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction contracts including American Institute of Architects forms (AIA) and vendor agreements.
  • Proficient in document drafting and review with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with internal departments, legal professionals, and clients.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and contract/document management tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in legal studies, Business, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Paralegal certification (NALA, NFPA, or other nationally recognized credentials).
  • Experience working with public sector agencies such as DDOT, DGS, NPS, VDOT, SHA, WSCC, DC Water, and private developers or general contractors.
  • Familiarity with federal and municipal contract compliance regulations and reporting procedures.
  • Familiarity with Billy (insurance certificate management), Procore (project management), and Vista by Trimble (construction ERP software) is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee contract documentation and ensure accuracy across all legal and operational deliverables.
  • Manage conformed record documents and work with field and project staff to monitor progress and contract compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and client representatives to facilitate seamless information exchange and execution.
  • Exercise independent judgment on document control, risk identification, and compliance reviews for large-scale infrastructure and construction projects.
  • Work closely with internal departments and leadership, including the AR Manager, Estimating, Procurement, Project Management, General Counsel and Field Operations teams.
  • Engage with clients such as DDOT, DGS, NPS, VDOT, SHA, WSSC, DC Water, and private developers.
  • Draft and review contracts and subcontracts, ensuring all terms are accurate, compliant, and aligned with company standards.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and senior leadership to ensure seamless execution and tracking of contracts across various stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Interface with Legal prior to finalizing contracts, implementing changes to existing contracts, or addressing potential legal issues.
  • Communicate with external stakeholders, including public agencies and private entities, to clarify contract terms and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a centralized system for tracking contract versions, change orders, approvals, renewals, and amendments.
  • Provide guidance and training to project teams on contractual processes, compliance obligations, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Assist in the preparation of project-specific documents such as Job Information Sheets, contract exhibits, and change orders.
  • Prepare, process, and track subcontractors change orders and payment waivers; ensure documentation is complete and deadlines are met.
  • Support legal and compliance teams in audits, reporting, and investigations of contract-related discrepancies.
  • Coordinate and support proposal development processes by preparing supporting documents, tracking deadlines, and reviewing deliverables for legal and contractual accuracy.
