About The Position

ELYSIS is seeking a Senior HR Advisor to be based in Saguenay, Quebec. This role serves as a close HR partner to site leaders, collaborating with the HR Director and the Montreal-based HR team. The position operates in a demanding operational environment, requiring strong HR judgment, influence, and risk prevention to ensure stability, performance, and organizational maturity. As a senior HR professional, you will be the primary HR point of contact for site leaders, exercising autonomous and experienced HR judgment, acting as a trusted advisor, and intervening directly in complex people situations. You will have decision-making autonomy for on-site HR interventions, aligned with organizational guidelines and in partnership with the HR Director. The role is focused on value-added field impact, leadership coaching, and sustainable human outcomes, rather than administrative or transactional HR processes which are managed by the Montreal team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or industrial relations.
  • 15+ years of senior HR experience with strong field exposure.
  • Proven expertise in labor relations, conflict management, and leadership coaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in complex and demanding operational environments with composure, sound judgment, and emotional resilience.
  • Strong credibility with managers and leaders.
  • Excellent judgment, emotional maturity, influencing skills, and a prevention-oriented, impact-driven approach.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written.
  • Daily collaboration with colleagues, teams, and partners outside Quebec is required.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary HR contact for all site leaders.
  • Frame, prioritize, and guide HR matters using senior-level judgment aligned with organizational direction.
  • Determine, in collaboration with the HR Director when needed, the appropriate level of intervention: direct involvement, leader coaching, or activation of broader HR levers.
  • Ensure a smooth, credible, and influential interface between site leaders and the global HR function.
  • Coach leaders in people-related decisions and difficult conversations with a firm, constructive, and respected partnership approach.
  • Intervene directly in highly complex or sensitive cases.
  • Maintain a proactive understanding of workplace climate and early warning signals on-site.
  • Contribute to a stable, predictable, and consistent work environment.
  • Promote upstream interventions to prevent escalation and enhance leadership maturity.
  • Act as a positive influencer beyond risk management alone.
  • Provide structured, field-based insights and recommendations regarding workforce flexibility and evolution.
  • Support leaders in anticipating and managing the human impact of upcoming transformations.
  • Escalate to the HR Director when structural or cross-functional decisions are required, providing clear analysis of risks, options, and human impacts.
  • Act as HR co-lead in collaboration with the HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) team for the Saguenay site.
  • Support leaders in managing sensitive situations related to psychological health and team well-being.
  • Contribute to reflections on operational sustainability and prevention levers.
  • Contribute to cross-functional HR cycles (culture, performance, talent, succession, compensation, engagement) by providing realistic field insights, evaluation of people-related and retention challenges, and a pragmatic perspective on local applicability.
