About The Position

The Configuration Engineer will transform product requirements and engineering design intent into actionable product definitions. The role works with the Gas Turbine Configuration Management organization to deliver quality product definitions on schedule to global supply chain functions. It is based in Schenectady, NY, with a hybrid work model, and is a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension and potential future permanent employment.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
• Experience in product definition development, BOM management, configuration management concepts, and project scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain Engineering and Unit Bills of Materials (BOMs), and manage their integration into ERP systems throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support the Inquiry to Order (ITO) team in transitioning project scope definitions in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool.
• Collaborate with Project Engineering to ensure timely handoff of requisition scope definitions.
• Verify accurate generation of logical features and resolve discrepancies with the ITO Configuration Management team.
• Support Preliminary BOM review meetings for Steam Turbine and Generator products.
• Assist manufacturing and sourcing teams with BOM concerns and conduct regular integrity monitoring.
• Execute Configuration Management responsibilities in Change Management processes and collaborate on continuous improvement and Lean activities.
• Ensure compliance with Client Gas Power procedures, processes, and contractual requirements.
