About The Position

The Concrete Finisher safely smooths, levels, shapes, and finishes poured concrete to specified quality, tolerances, and textures using hand and power tools. The role operates concrete-finishing equipment, forms joints and edges, patches concrete, and constructs forms and wooden frames for concrete structures. The employee may also assist with subgrade work, mixing concrete or other aggregate mixtures, and breaking up and repairing existing concrete surfaces. Work takes place in a safety-sensitive construction environment and may involve heights, confined spaces, moving machinery, heavy equipment, and exposure to outdoor weather conditions. The position requires collaboration in a fast-paced, complex team environment and availability for day, swing, and night shifts, occasionally with extended hours.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent years of experience.
• Appropriate training and experience required.
• Ability to work day, swing, and night shifts, occasionally with extended hours.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and in a safety-sensitive construction setting with moving machinery and heavy equipment.
• Ability to wear a full-body harness and work at heights while tied off.
• Ability to collaborate with a team in a fast-paced and complex environment.
• Ability to squat, crawl, and work in awkward positions or confined spaces.
• Ability to work rapidly and accurately with hands; follow set procedures and standards; compare sizes, shapes, and forms; interpret objects from drawings or diagrams; evaluate information using measurable standards; calculate concrete quantities; and work within precise accuracy limits.
• Ability to climb and maintain body balance; fully use hands and arms; stand, kneel, bend, crawl, or crouch for long periods; and see well, naturally or with correction.

Nice To Haves

• Previous related experience in the construction industry.
• 1–2 years of concrete finishing experience.
• Experience working with a concrete curb machine.

Responsibilities

• Pour, spread, tamp, level, shape, smooth, and finish concrete to meet horizontal tolerances and finish specifications, from hard trowel to heavy broom.
• Operate concrete edging, troweling, and finishing equipment, including bull floats, brooms, and trowel machines.
• Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straightedges.
• Patch horizontal and vertical concrete.
• Construct and assemble concrete forms and wooden frame structures for concrete formations.
• Assist with subgrade work and mixing concrete or other aggregate mixtures, as needed.
• Break up and repair old concrete surfaces, as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.
