About The Position

The Concrete Finisher smooths, shapes, and finishes poured bridge decking and other concrete surfaces. The role includes preparing and placing concrete, finishing slabs and walls, repairing damaged or defective surfaces, and forming expansion joints and edges. Employees may also be asked to perform duties outside their normal responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

Three to five years of experience working on heavy highways and/or bridges.
Ability to stand, stoop, bend, and crouch for extended periods, up to ten hours per day.
Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, and stair towers.
Ability to lift and carry at least 60 pounds.
Ability to operate concrete vibrators for extended periods.
Ability to pour, grade, and finish concrete.

Responsibilities

Smooth and finish poured bridge decking and other concrete slabs using hand or power tools, including floats, trowels, and screeds.
Spread concrete to the specified depth and consistency.
Level, smooth, and shape freshly poured concrete using a straight edge, float, or power screed.
Finish concrete surfaces using a power trowel.
Rub concrete with an abrasive stone to finish it.
Remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using a power grinder, chisel, or hammer.
Patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound material.
Mold expansion joints and edges.
Mix concrete using a mixing machine.
Break up and repair old concrete surfaces.
Finish walls, point, and patch.
Pour, grade, and finish concrete.
