About The Position

This position is responsible for safely smoothing, leveling, and finishing poured concrete surfaces to specified quality and textures using hand and/or power tools. The work includes pouring, spreading, tamping, shaping, and finishing concrete to meet horizontal tolerances and finish specifications, as well as operating concrete-finishing machinery and equipment. The role may also involve constructing forms, repairing concrete, and assisting with subgrade preparation or concrete mixing.

The job is performed in a safety-sensitive construction setting and requires working outdoors in all weather conditions, potentially at heights while wearing a full-body harness. Workers may work day, swing, or night shifts and occasionally work extended hours. The position involves physical activity such as climbing, standing, kneeling, bending, crawling, crouching, and working in awkward positions or confined spaces.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent years of experience.
• Appropriate training and experience.
• Ability to work rapidly and accurately with hands and follow established procedures and standards.
• Ability to compare differences in size, shape, and form; interpret objects from drawings or diagrams; evaluate information against measurable standards; calculate concrete quantities; and work within precise limits of accuracy.
• Ability to climb and maintain body balance; fully use hands and arms; stand, kneel, bend, crawl, or crouch for extended periods; and see well, naturally or with correction.
• Ability to wear a full-body harness and work at heights while tied off.
• Ability to work day, swing, and night shifts, including occasional extended hours.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and in a safety-sensitive construction environment with moving machinery and heavy equipment.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and complex environment.
• Ability to squat, crawl, and work in awkward positions or confined spaces.

Nice To Haves

• Previous related experience in the construction industry.
• One to two years of concrete finishing experience.
• Experience working with a concrete curb machine.

Responsibilities

• Pour, spread, tamp, level, shape, smooth, and finish concrete to meet horizontal tolerances and finish specifications, from hard trowel to heavy broom.
• Operate concrete-finishing machinery and equipment, including cement edging, troweling and finishing equipment, bull floats, brooms, and trowel machines.
• Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straightedges.
• Patch horizontal and vertical concrete.
• Construct and assemble concrete forms and wooden frame structures for concrete formations.
• May assist with subgrade work and mixing concrete or other aggregate mixtures.
• May break up and repair old concrete surfaces.
• Perform other duties as required.
