About The Position

General Contractor in Newport News, VA is seeking a Concrete Finisher who is committed to performing and maintaining the quality work standards established by Hampton Roads Contracting, Inc. Reporting to the General Foreman, the Concrete Finisher is responsible for performing various construction duties. This role performs manual labor, pours and finishes concrete, and performs other concrete construction and general construction duties as needed to assist with various types of construction projects. Assignments may change based on project needs, and employees may be required to perform duties outside of their primary trade to support overall project completion.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a concrete finisher and/or carpenter required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend engineered sketches and drawings.
  • Enthusiastic, professional, and positive attitude.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work long hours.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to operate company vehicles preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set and construct concrete forms, including carpentry tasks for accurate dimensions, alignment, and support of poured concrete.
  • Pour, level, and finish concrete to specifications.
  • Apply surface treatments and finishes, including broom, trowel, or stamped finishes, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Monitor curing processes and implement measures to prevent cracking or surface defects.
  • Repair, patch, and resurface existing concrete as needed.
  • Place and finish flat slabs.
  • Perform demolition work.
  • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized manner.
  • Follow all safety protocols, job site regulations, and quality standards.
  • Perform other miscellaneous general construction duties as needed for project completion, including other manual labor.
