About The Position

Hawkins Construction is seeking skilled, detail-oriented Concrete Laborers, Finishers, and Carpenters for its construction team in the Columbia, Missouri area. The company is a commercial concrete contractor serving the St. Louis region and expanding in Columbia. Successful candidates take pride in their craftsmanship and contribute to a team focused on quality workmanship, safety, and completing work correctly. The role supports all phases of concrete construction, including site preparation, demolition, forming, carpentry, concrete placement and finishing, and cleanup. Work includes building, installing, and stripping forms for concrete structures; interpreting plans and specifications; measuring and assembling forming materials; and placing, leveling, finishing, repairing, and resurfacing concrete. Employees use hand and power tools, help maintain safe and organized job sites, and work toward daily production goals. The position requires travel to assigned job sites and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

Requirements

Experience building, setting, and stripping concrete forms.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and measurements.
Knowledge of concrete forming, carpentry, and finishing techniques, tools, and safety procedures.
Experience using hand and power tools commonly used in concrete construction.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to work effectively as part of a construction crew.
Ability to travel to job sites as assigned.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

3+ years of concrete or construction experience preferred.
5+ years of concrete finishing or concrete carpentry experience preferred.
Class A CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist the crew with all phases of concrete construction, including site preparation, demolition, forming, carpentry, placement, finishing, and cleanup.
Build, install, and strip concrete forms for sidewalks, curbs, walls, foundations, floors, and other concrete structures.
Read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate layout and installation of forms.
Measure, cut, assemble, and install lumber and other materials used in concrete forming and carpentry.
Build and set forms, install supports and bracing, and ensure proper alignment and dimensions.
Place, distribute, level, and finish concrete according to project specifications.
Perform concrete finishing using appropriate tools and techniques.
Assist with general labor duties to support efficient job-site operations.
Use shovels, lutes, rakes, saws, drills, and other hand and power tools as needed.
Monitor the effects of weather on concrete curing and take necessary precautions.
Repair and resurface worn or damaged concrete surfaces.
Meet daily production goals by understanding and performing various aspects of concrete operations.
Ensure completed work meets job specifications and quality standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Maintain a professional and courteous attitude toward co-workers, customers, and the public.
Follow all company and job-site safety requirements, policies, and procedures.
Perform other duties as directed by the Foreman.
