About The Position

CNA Specialty Financial Lines is hiring a Complex Claims Specialist to handle Private and Not-For-Profit Directors & Officers (D&O) and Employment Practices Liability (EPL) claims. The role manages a dynamic, multi-state caseload of litigated, low- to mid-complexity and exposure claims. The specialist works with insureds, attorneys, brokers, claimants, and business partners to investigate claims, verify coverage, coordinate discovery, develop litigation and resolution strategies, and negotiate and settle claims within designated authority limits. The position requires insurance litigation and coverage analysis experience, sound judgment, strong written work, and a commitment to responsive customer service. The specialist evaluates liability and damages, establishes reserves, oversees appropriate resources, documents claim decisions, and escalates matters as appropriate. The role may include account-specific assignments, participation in mediations, and mentoring less experienced claim professionals. The position is hybrid at a CNA location; Chicago, Glastonbury, Lake Mary, Wyomissing, or the New York area is preferred, though candidates near any CNA location will be considered.
