About The Position

24-MAG LLC is offering a fully remote, part-time independent-contractor consulting engagement for experienced Competitive Coders supporting an advanced AI training and reinforcement-learning project. The work focuses on creating original competitive-programming problems, developing C++ reference solutions and custom checkers, building robust test suites, and designing environments that evaluate AI-generated solutions. Tasks must be technically rigorous, deterministic, objectively verifiable, and based only on content the professional is permitted to use. No prior AI experience is required. Compensation is listed as $45–$65 per hour, but the actual payment structure is output-based, with payment per task that meets project specifications. The expected commitment is at least 15 hours per week, and minimum weekly submission requirements apply; the exact number of required tasks is not specified. Roles are typically filled within approximately 48 hours, and selected experts are expected to begin initial tasks within approximately 24–48 hours after onboarding. Project scope, task difficulty, algorithms, evaluation criteria, and testing requirements may evolve with project needs.

Requirements

  • Strong competitive-programming background.
  • Advanced C++ proficiency and ability to write clear, maintainable C++ code.
  • Deep understanding of algorithms and data structures.
  • Strong checker and test-case design skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex constraints and multiple valid solution paths.
  • Excellent debugging, validation, and edge-case analysis skills.
  • Strong attention to correctness and output consistency.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort working independently in a remote environment.
  • Expected commitment of at least 15 hours per week; minimum weekly submission requirements apply.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a problem setter, tester, or checker on major competitive-programming platforms is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Create original competitive-programming problems that are not duplicated from existing online judges.
  • Define clear problem statements, constraints, expected behavior, and measurable success criteria.
  • Design reinforcement-learning environments for evaluating model-generated solutions.
  • Develop efficient C++ reference solutions.
  • Design custom checkers, including support for multiple valid outputs.
  • Build comprehensive test suites covering edge cases, boundaries, and adversarial scenarios.
  • Validate checker behavior against correct and intentionally flawed solutions, preventing false positives and false negatives.
  • Analyze solution paths, complexity trade-offs, and alternative algorithms.
  • Review participant or model-generated submissions for correctness and identify logical, algorithmic, implementation, and performance issues.
  • Evaluate whether solutions handle constraints, edge cases, and output requirements, and distinguish valid alternatives from incorrect reasoning.
  • Review problem statements, checkers, and test cases for ambiguity or weaknesses; provide actionable feedback to problem setters and reviewers.
  • Document checker logic, edge cases, and technical decisions clearly.
  • Communicate algorithmic reasoning in written and verbal formats.
