About The Position

This is a remote, independent-contractor consulting engagement supporting an advanced AI training and clinical evaluation project. The specialist will review complex adolescent eating-disorder cases, assess clinical and medical risk, apply diagnostic and screening frameworks, evaluate treatment suitability, and provide structured written guidance grounded in current standards of care. No prior AI experience is required. The work requires substantial recent direct clinical experience with adolescents, specialist knowledge of eating disorders, sound judgement about escalation and treatment suitability, and the ability to explain nuanced clinical recommendations clearly to non-specialist audiences. Project scope, workload, case complexity, and evaluation standards may evolve. Selected professionals should be prepared to begin their first tasks approximately 24–48 hours after completing onboarding. Work must not use confidential or proprietary information belonging to an employer, client, institution, healthcare organisation, patient, or other third party.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of post-qualification experience working directly with adolescent patients in a clinical setting.
  • Specialist background in eating disorders, child or adolescent psychiatry or psychology, or adolescent or paediatric medicine focused on eating disorders.
  • Active clinical licence or professional registration in good standing.
  • Recent experience managing an adolescent caseload or practising clinically within approximately the past two years.
  • Strong proficiency with DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and screening tools such as EDE-Q and SCOFF.
  • Familiarity with medical-risk assessment protocols such as MEED.
  • Experience with evidence-based interventions, including FBT or CBT-E.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and ability to assess medical and psychological risk simultaneously.
  • Exceptional written English and ability to communicate complex clinical reasoning clearly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with adolescent medical stabilisation.
  • Formal FBT or CBT-E training.
  • Expertise in co-occurring conditions such as self-harm or anxiety.
  • No prior experience in AI training or model evaluation is required.

Responsibilities

  • Review adolescent eating-disorder cases and produce detailed written clinical assessments.
  • Apply DSM-5 criteria and recognised screening tools such as EDE-Q and SCOFF.
  • Characterise symptoms, severity, and diagnostic considerations, and distinguish disordered-eating patterns from clinically significant eating disorders.
  • Identify clinical features indicating escalating risk or greater treatment complexity.
  • Assess medical stability using recognised medical-risk frameworks such as MEED where appropriate, and identify cases needing urgent escalation or higher levels of intervention.
  • Evaluate physiological, nutritional, behavioural, and contextual indicators of severity and document reasoning for severity and escalation decisions.
  • Evaluate evidence-based treatment approaches, including FBT and CBT-E, for fit with the adolescent’s presentation, developmental stage, risk profile, and required treatment intensity or modality.
  • Identify circumstances requiring multidisciplinary or specialist intervention and provide practical guidance grounded in current clinical standards.
  • Assess psychiatric, medical, and psychosocial comorbidities and safeguarding concerns, including co-occurring anxiety or self-harm where present.
  • Integrate comorbidity and safeguarding considerations into clinical formulation and highlight factors that may affect treatment planning or urgency.
  • Produce clear, actionable written guidance for non-specialist users, explaining clinical reasoning, treatment considerations, and escalation decisions.
  • Benchmark clinical judgements against established guidelines and peer standards; review assessments for consistency, completeness, and clinical safety.
  • Incorporate reviewer feedback and evolving project standards into subsequent work.
