Compassionate CNA/PCA for Client Living with Dementia
About The Position
Always Best Care of Fairfax is committed to delivering personalized, client-centered care throughout Fairfax County. We are currently hiring a compassionate CNA/PCA to provide one-on-one support for a client living with dementia in Alexandria. The client lives with his daughter and her family and is seeking a consistent care professional who can become a trusted part of his routine and help support his continued engagement in the community. We are seeking a patient, dependable, and engaging CNA/PCA to support a client on his dementia journey. The client has a wonderfully positive, happy, and sunny disposition and thrives with caregivers who are kind, encouraging, and able to provide gentle prompting throughout the day. Responsibilities include assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), companionship, safety supervision, and transportation to and from an adult day program. The ideal caregiver understands the importance of consistency when supporting individuals living with dementia and enjoys building meaningful relationships with clients and their families. The family is specifically seeking one consistent care professional who can provide reliable support each week and become a familiar, reassuring presence in the client's life.
Requirements
- Active CNA license in the state of Virginia (preferred) or experienced PCA
- Experience supporting clients living with dementia preferred
- Safe driving record and reliable transportation
- Patient, compassionate, and able to provide gentle cueing and redirection
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Dependable and committed to maintaining a consistent schedule
Responsibilities
- Provide gentle prompting and support with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- Assist with personal care, grooming, and routine daily tasks as needed
- Provide companionship, conversation, and positive engagement
- Safely transport and accompany the client to and from his adult day program
- Encourage participation in activities and social interaction
- Monitor safety and overall well-being throughout the shift
- Communicate observations and updates to family members and care management staff
- Promote a calm, structured, and supportive environment
