About The Position

The Cat Compact Technician performs Cat Compact maintenance and repairs complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools while using a high degree of independent judgment. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

Requirements

Knowledge of dirt engaging equipment, aerial, and lifting equipment
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
Quality control analysis skills - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
Operation and control skills - Controlling operations of equipment or systems
Equipment selection skills - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
Should be able to utilize a multi-meter and various OEM scan tools to perform basic troubleshooting and diagnostics
Should have a basic knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines and how they operate
Should have a basic knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems
The ability to read and comprehend electrical and hydraulic system schematics
High school/equivalent diploma or trade school diploma preferred
One year of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience required
Three or more years preferred
Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
Troubleshoots and diagnoses Cat Compact equipment malfunctions and failures
Disassembles and assembles Cat Compact machine components to manufacturer’s specifications through the use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and any specialized tooling
Rebuilds, repairs, reconditions, and maintains Cat Compact equipment and components
Maintains good customer relations and support; communicates customer needs to shop management
Plans and controls cost of repair jobs
Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return
Maintains company equipment – keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition
Adapts schedule to accommodate workload fluctuations and meet customer demands
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths
Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
Performs other duties as assigned
