Metropolitan Family Services (MFS) is seeking a Community Schools Coordinator for its Calumet office in Chicago. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of total combined (work/volunteer/internship) experience in program development or program management, and working with children in an educational, activity, or social service program.
  • OR High School Diploma or GED and 6+ years of total combined (work/volunteer/internship) experience in program development or program management, and working with children in an educational, activity, or social service program.
  • Demonstrated intermediate experience in Microsoft Suite, including Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school personnel, agency staff, parents, and community partners.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and some weekends.
  • Ability to work in dual accountability (responsible to the agency and school administration).
  • Proficient in required computer programs such as Microsoft 365/Microsoft Office, including Excel, or the ability to learn within the first 3 months.
  • Satisfactorily pass all relevant screenings and criminal background checks.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ year of supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
  • Access to mobility on a regular basis required, an automobile with insurance coverage and a valid driver’s license may be required depending on location.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English required depending on location.
  • Driving for work preferred with a personally owned vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises Community School staff, including interns and volunteers.
  • Develops comprehensive trainings and participates in the hiring and termination process of program staff.
  • Manages all components of the Community School, including out-of-school-time programs, adult services, family and community activities, recruitment and retention, and community development.
  • Utilizes skills to effectively address all levels of risk management, implementing a restorative approach to behavioral problems.
  • Conducts a comprehensive needs assessment of the school and community to ensure services are culturally competent, restorative, and meet the highest needs.
  • Plans and recommends high-quality program activities that align with Community School values.
  • Facilitates Community School Advisory Board meetings, delegates tasks, and recruits members.
  • Ensures funder deliverables and agency/funder standards for out-of-school-time are met in collaboration with the Advisory Board.
  • Ensures site-based reporting and program evaluation components are completed, including record-keeping, policy monitoring, outcome evaluation, and data analysis.
  • Provides direct service to youth and parents.
  • Organizes consumer and/or oversight committees.
  • Seeks input from stakeholders to determine ongoing needs of students and families.
  • Negotiates agreements with service providers and secures necessary agency approvals.
  • Assumes responsibility for additional out-of-school-time programs at the principal's request and with agency approval.
  • Manages all aspects of the Community School budget, including expenditures, payments, purchases, and financial report review.
  • Makes purchases for the program as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
