About The Position

Community Options, Inc. is a national nonprofit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 11 states. The Community Integration Counselor (CIC) assists individuals with learning physical, intellectual, emotional, and social life skills. The counselor provides individualized services to help participants manage and overcome difficulties associated with living in the community. The position is based in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, and starts at $17.71 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
At least two years of relevant experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with individuals receiving supports.
Successful completion of criminal background, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug-testing checks is a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

Support and encourage individuals to increase their independence.
Meet regularly with waiver participants in their residences, in the community, or in an office setting.
Provide ongoing support for community integration efforts.
Document individual progress toward acquiring community integration skills.
Help build a support network between each individual and the community.
Administer medications and complete the required documentation.
Coordinate leisure and volunteer opportunities.
Monitor individuals’ health and medical needs and immediately report concerns.
Drive individuals to medical appointments and community activities.
Complete program documentation and billable records accurately and on time.
Cooperate with license and department staff during inspections, inquiries, or investigations.
Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
