Home-based Community Habilitation DSP
About The Position
Ability Beyond is hiring a Community Habilitation DSP to provide one-to-one, person-centered support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Westchester County. The Medicaid-funded program helps individuals develop or enhance skills for more independent living at home and in the community. Individuals may live in group homes, independently, or with their families, and support is tailored to each person’s needs. The role includes helping individuals build daily living skills and take part in social and recreational activities. Schedule options include full-time Monday–Friday or part-time Sunday–Saturday FLEX, based on program needs. The posting also notes that per-diem opportunities are available. The pay rate is $22.25 per hour.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Personal vehicle.
- Willingness to learn; no experience is needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one training to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Help individuals develop or enhance skills needed to live more independently at home and in the community.
- Support activities of daily living, including laundry, housekeeping, and money management.
- Help individuals participate in social and recreational activities, including sports games, wrestling matches, plays, and dinner outings.
- Tailor support to individuals who live in group homes, independently, or with their families.
