Community Habilitation Direct Support Professional (DSP)
About The Position
The Arc Erie County NY is a nonprofit that supports people with developmental and intellectual disabilities across Western New York through residential, educational, clinical, and employment services. Community Habilitation Direct Support Professionals provide direct supervision to individuals in community and residential settings, supporting daily living in one-on-one or group settings. They help individuals accomplish personal goals and outcomes to achieve greater independence, and provide services in the community or in an individual's home. The role offers an opportunity to gain experience in the human services field. There are no traditional assigned shifts; employees choose their schedule. Current openings are per diem, with growth possibilities. Weekends and evenings are required. Pay is $18.21 per hour.
Requirements
- High school diploma and one year of full-time human services experience, which may combine paid and volunteer experience; or an associate degree with 60 credit hours completed and six months of human services experience; or a bachelor's degree with no experience.
- Valid New York State driver's license with an approved driving record.
- Ownership of and access to an insured car in good operating condition.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision to individuals in community and residential settings in all facets of daily living, in one-on-one or group settings.
- Support individuals in accomplishing personal goals and outcomes to achieve greater independence.
- Provide services in the community or in individuals' homes.
