About The Position

The Community Coalition Partnerships (CCP) Coordinator's primary focus is to mobilize the community to implement evidence-based environmental strategies aimed at changing policies and influencing social norms related to substance use and misuse across various age groups (adolescents, young adults, and adults). This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining a community coalition to address key prevention priorities such as underage alcohol use, vape products, tobacco and nicotine products, marijuana and other cannabinoids, and prescription drugs. The position requires implementing SAMHSA’s five-step Strategic Prevention Plan (SPF), which includes Assessment, Capacity Building, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation, with cultural competency and sustainability as guiding principles. The coordinator will conduct needs assessments, build the Community Coalition Partnerships (CCP), coordinate with area resources and service providers, and develop projects that enhance behavioral health and wellness. Reporting on community-specific data to stakeholders and seeking funding opportunities are also key responsibilities. The role involves developing environmental and social media marketing strategies, completing documentation and reports, and coordinating coalition events. Additionally, the coordinator will engage in marketing and educational presentations, meet funding agency requirements, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in health planning or a related field.
Must have or obtain an Associate Prevention Specialist (APS) designation within the timeframe established by the funding agency.
Experience in data collection and interpretation.
Ability to prepare and submit reports in a timely manner.
Ability to work in a non-structured environment.
Excellent planning, development, organizational and record keeping skills.
Ability to work well and relate well to diverse individuals and groups, both youth and adults throughout the community.
Ability to establish rapport with the community.
Extensive knowledge of community resources.
Skilled in record keeping.
Computer proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to prepare a budget.
Ability to develop and present materials to community leaders and members.
Ability to design and develop promotional materials.
Must complete all training, including certifications as required by funding agency.
Strong public speaking skills.
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Current driver’s license, auto insurance, reliable transportation and a phone.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of Public Service Announcement (PSA) development preferred.
Bi-lingual in Spanish/English preferred, but not required.
Enjoy working with the media (press, TV and radio) and speaking in public.

Responsibilities

Implement SAMHSA’s five-step Strategic Prevention Plan (SPF): Assessment, Capacity Building, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation.
Implement a community and school-based needs assessment to identify key issues confronting adults and adolescents.
Develop and build the Community Coalition Partnerships (CCP) as defined by the funding agency.
Work closely with area resources and service providers, including PRC 7 Coordinators.
Coordinate and facilitate existing or new coalition activities.
Develop and implement projects that change the physical environment, build community resilience, or improve systemic processes to enhance behavioral health and wellness.
Compile county and community–specific data and report data to coalition members, PRC 7, and the funding agency.
Search for and develop environmental strategies and funding opportunities for the CCP.
Conduct regular monthly meetings for the Coalition.
Develop environmental and social media marketing strategies appropriate to the target population with prevention messages focused on the State’s three target areas.
Complete all documentation and reports in a timely manner for submission to the Coalition, the Program Director, the Executive Director, and the funding agency, as required.
Set-up and close down coalition events, including meetings and activities.
Coordinate with other community organizations and the local PRC as frequently as possible.
Respond to all communication from both internal and external sources in a timely manner.
Participate in agency wide activities as needed to meet the goals and objectives of the organization.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Community Coalition Partnerships Director or Executive Director.
Conduct marketing and educational presentations to campus organizations and community organizations.
Meet all funding agency Measures and required elements in the Statement of Work.
