About The Position

The Community Coalition Partnerships (CCP) Coordinator's primary focus is to mobilize the community to implement evidence-based environmental strategies aimed at changing policies and influencing social norms related to substance use and misuse across various age groups (K-12, 18-25, and 25+). This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining a community coalition to address the State's prevention priorities, including underage alcohol use, vape products, tobacco and nicotine products, marijuana and other cannabinoids, and prescription drugs. The position requires implementing SAMHSA’s five-step Strategic Prevention Plan (SPF), which includes Assessment, Capacity Building, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation, with cultural competency and sustainability as guiding principles. The coordinator will also conduct needs assessments, build the CCP, collaborate with area resources, coordinate coalition activities, develop projects to change the physical environment and improve systemic processes, compile and report data, seek funding opportunities, conduct monthly coalition meetings, develop marketing and social media strategies, complete documentation and reports, set up and manage coalition events, coordinate with other community organizations, respond to communications promptly, participate in agency-wide activities, and conduct marketing and educational presentations.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in health planning or a related field.
  • Must have or obtain an Associate Prevention Specialist (APS) designation within the timeframe established by the funding agency.
  • Experience in data collection and interpretation.
  • Ability to prepare and submit reports in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work in a non-structured environment.
  • Excellent planning, development, organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Ability to work well and relate well to diverse individuals and groups, both youth and adults throughout the community.
  • Ability to establish rapport with community.
  • Extensive knowledge of community resources.
  • Skilled in record keeping.
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Able to prepare a budget.
  • Able to develop and present materials to community leaders and members.
  • Complete all training, including certifications as required by funding agency.
  • Strong public speaking skills.
  • Able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Current driver’s license, auto insurance, reliable transportation and a phone.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Public Service Announcement (PSA) development preferred.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish/English preferred, but not required.
  • Must enjoy working with the media (press, TV and radio) and speaking in public.
  • Able to work late nights and some weekends.
  • Able to design and develop promotional materials.
  • Must have a positive attitude and flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Implement SAMHSA’s five-step Strategic Prevention Plan (SPF): Assessment, Capacity Building, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation.
  • Implement a community and school-based needs assessment.
  • Develop and build the Community Coalition Partnerships (CCP).
  • Work closely with area resources and service providers including the PRC 7 Coordinators.
  • Coordinate and facilitate existing or new coalition activities.
  • Develop and implement projects that change the physical environment, build community resilience, or improve systemic processes.
  • Compile county and community–specific data and report data to coalition members, PRC 7, and funding agency.
  • Search for and develop environmental strategies as well as funding opportunities for the CCP.
  • Conduct regular monthly meetings for the Coalition.
  • Develop environmental and social media marketing strategies appropriate to the target population.
  • Complete all documentation and reports in a timely manner.
  • Set-up and close down coalition events, including meetings and activities.
  • Coordinate with other community organizations and the local PRC.
  • Respond to all communication from both internal and external sources in a timely manner.
  • Participate in agency wide activities as needed.
  • Conduct marketing and educational presentations to campus organizations and community organizations.
  • Meet all funding agency Measures and required elements in the Statement of Work.
