Community Canvasser- For Our Future
About The Position
Community Canvassers and Team Leaders will conduct door-to-door voter outreach in Columbus, Ohio, through Election Day (November 3). The team connects directly with voters to encourage turnout and support candidates who champion progressive values. Canvassing positions start at $27 per hour, and Team Leader positions start at $29 per hour. The roles are available full-time or part-time and are hiring immediately, with possible advancement after November 3. The role offers experience in leadership, communication and advocacy, community outreach and engagement, campaign work, public policy, and social enterprise. Compensation may also include overtime pay, driver and shift bonuses, paid training, sick pay, and friend-referral bonuses. Bonuses can add up to $40 per shift, and referrals can earn $150 or more; a double-shift bonus may allow canvassers to earn $265 or more in a day.
Requirements
- Strong communication skills and willingness to work with and speak to people.
- Ability to stay motivated and work hard to engage as many people as possible.
- Cultural competence and ability to engage respectfully with teammates and the community.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Upon hire, must present original, unexpired documents from the Lists of Acceptable Documents to complete I-9 verification.

Responsibilities
- Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner.
- Deliver a compelling campaign message and collect complete survey answers from voters.
- Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills.
- Follow campaign safety protocols.
- For Team Leaders: Manage a small group of canvassers in the field, check in with them periodically, and debrief with them at the end of the day.
- For Team Leaders: Ensure each canvasser has the materials needed to be successful.
- For Team Leaders: Assist directors with canvasser training and administrative work.
