About The Position

Community Canvassers and Team Leaders help turn out voters in Texas by engaging directly with the public at busy locations. Canvassers encourage people to vote, deliver a campaign message, collect survey answers, and guide voters through contacting three friends to encourage them to vote as well. The role offers experience in leadership, communication and advocacy, community outreach and engagement, campaign work, public policy, and social enterprise. Canvasser positions start at $24 per hour, and Team Leader positions start at $26 per hour. The organization offers overtime pay, driver and shift bonuses, paid training, sick pay, and friend-referral bonuses. Positions are based in Corpus Christi, run through November 3, and may have opportunities for advancement afterward. Shifts run from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, seven days a week, with full-time and part-time schedules available. Employees must be eligible to work in the United States and provide acceptable, original, unexpired documents for I-9 verification upon hire.

Requirements

Strong communication skills and willingness to speak with and work with people.
Ability to stay motivated and engage as many people as possible.
Tech competence and ability to navigate multiple phone apps while maintaining conversations with voters.
Cultural competence and ability to respectfully engage with teammates and the community.
Must be eligible to work in the United States and provide acceptable documentation for I-9 verification.

Passion for progressive politics and fostering democracy.
Prior canvassing experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner.
Deliver a compelling campaign message and collect complete survey answers from voters using an app on a phone.
Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills.
Follow campaign safety protocols.
As a Team Leader, manage a small field group by checking in with canvassers during the day and debriefing with them at the end of the day.
As a Team Leader, ensure each canvasser has the materials needed to be successful.
As a Team Leader, assist directors with canvasser training and administrative work.
