About The Position

Chispa, the League of Conservation Voters community organizing program, engages Latino families and other communities of color around local climate and environmental justice issues. Through Election Day, the team partners with Chispa to connect directly with voters in public locations, encourage them to vote, and help them contact three friends to do the same. The posting hires Community Canvassers and Team Leaders in Corpus Christi, with positions running through November 3 and possibilities for advancement afterward. Canvassers start at $24 per hour; Team Leaders start at $26 per hour. The role offers experience in leadership, communication and advocacy, community outreach and engagement, campaign work, public policy, and social enterprise. Shifts are 11 AM–7 PM, seven days a week, with part-time or full-time schedules available.

Requirements

Strong communication skills and willingness and enthusiasm to speak with everyone.
Ability to stay motivated and work hard to engage as many people as possible.
Tech competence and ability to navigate multiple phone apps while maintaining conversations with voters.
Cultural competence and ability to respectfully engage with teammates and the community.
Must be eligible to work in the United States and present original, unexpired acceptable documents for I-9 verification upon hire.

Passion for progressive politics and fostering democracy.
Prior canvassing experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner.
Deliver a compelling campaign message and collect complete survey answers from voters using an app on a phone.
Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills.
Follow the campaign’s safety protocols.
Team Leaders manage a small group of field canvassers, check in with them periodically throughout the day, and debrief with them at the end of the day.
Team Leaders ensure each canvasser has the materials needed to be successful.
Team Leaders assist directors with canvasser training and administrative work.
