Community Associate
About The Position
Under general supervision, with some latitude for independent initiative and decision making, the Community Associate performs responsible work in support of the Safety and Security CCTV Unit. The role supports CCTV operations, processes requests and records, and coordinates with internal and external stakeholders. Once trained, the employee joins a team assisting with obtaining CCTV footage for law enforcement and court. The position includes active physical inspections of CCTV and LAC equipment in buildings. The work requires frequent walking, climbing stairs, and standing for long periods. Employees of the Office of Safety & Security must hold confidential information in trust and strict confidence; unauthorized sharing of information is prohibited.
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community-centered activities in an area related to the described duties; or education and/or experience equivalent to this requirement.
- Maintain confidential information in strict confidence; unauthorized information sharing is prohibited.
Responsibilities
- Review and process requests, maintain numerous logs, and close out CCTV contract turnover and upgrade requests.
- Assist with day-to-day CCTV operations, including scheduling, preparing relevant materials, and maintaining the database.
- Work with staff to research and process requests, including conducting internal and external inspections.
- Correspond with staff from various internal and external departments, vendors, contractors, NYPD, and other law enforcement agencies as needed to process reports.
- After training, assist a team in obtaining CCTV footage for law enforcement and court.
- Perform physical building inspections of CCTV and LAC equipment.
