About The Position

Dartmouth Health’s Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a skilled, versatile General Anesthesiologist to join Valley Regional Hospital, a federally designated critical access hospital serving Sullivan County, New Hampshire. This role offers the opportunity to provide high-quality anesthesia care in a community hospital, working closely with surgeons, CRNAs, nurses, and other perioperative team members in a collaborative, supportive environment.

The position involves caring for adult and adolescent patients across a diverse community hospital population and a broad range of surgical cases, including general surgery, orthopedics, endoscopy, ophthalmology, and robotics. The anesthesiologist will provide general and regional anesthesia, including regional blocks and other procedures, and help support efficient, high-quality operating room operations. The role also includes participation in quality, safety, and practice-improvement initiatives and opportunities for teaching and mentorship through the hospital’s relationship with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

The practice offers the variety and autonomy of community anesthesia within a supportive hospital environment, with close collaboration among surgeons and CRNAs. The schedule includes 1,680 weekday clinical hours per year, limited weekday pager call, and minimal weekend commitments. Compensation is shift-based, with premium pay for shifts beyond standard clinical hours. Relocation assistance of up to $15,000 is available based on mileage.

Requirements

• Board-certified or board-eligible in Anesthesiology.
• Eligible for medical licensure in New Hampshire and Vermont.
• Experience or interest in both academic and community practice settings.
• Excellent clinical judgment, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Commitment to continuous learning and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia care for adult and adolescent patients across a diverse community hospital population.
• Care for a broad range of surgical cases, including general surgery, orthopedics, endoscopy, ophthalmology, and robotics.
• Provide general and regional anesthesia, including regional blocks and other procedures.
• Support efficient, high-quality operating room operations.

• Help ensure Sullivan County patients have access to high-quality anesthesia and surgical care close to home.
• Participate in quality, safety, and practice-improvement initiatives for the anesthesia service and hospital.
• Maintain opportunities for teaching and mentorship through the relationship with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
