About The Position

This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must meet program eligibility requirements, including age and legal status criteria. Individuals who required employer-specific work authorization (e.g., international students on study permits) are not eligible under this program. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents. The role will provide general support to various services in the Community and Family Services setting of a Ministry Unit.

Requirements

  • Between 16-30 years of age at start of Employment as per Canada Summer Jobs Program eligibility requirements
  • Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
  • CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training or willingness to complete once hired.
  • Up to two years of related experience.
  • Represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner.
  • Exhibit good listening and interpersonal skills, have strong oral/written communication skills.
  • Understanding of individuals of diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Good team player.
  • Good oral and writing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a team setting supporting various tasks and activities.
  • Provide general assistance during public relations events and regular campaigns.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all matters pertaining to the program participants.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures relating to the programs.
  • May chaperon the students as the driver does drop offs and picks ups of the students for various programs.
  • May assist with different basic administrative tasks – photocopy activities, greeting visitors, supporting reception, forwarding visitors, etc. as required.
  • May keep a log of different activities.
  • Assists in the organization, Maintenance:, and general cleanliness of the lessons area.
  • Assist with the MU/facility general clean up and set up for different activities.
  • Provide general information to visitors.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
