As a Communications Technician (911 Dispatcher), you’ll be the critical link between the public and police, fire, and EMS—helping ensure the right response is sent quickly and accurately. You will work onsite in a fast-paced communications center supporting the City of Cortez and Montezuma County area. A shift may start with system checks and reviewing updates, then move quickly between call-taking and radio traffic as activity changes. You’ll gather details from callers—sometimes calm, sometimes distressed—and keep information organized as situations evolve. Training is structured: classroom instruction, online modules, and about three months of guided, on-the-job learning to build confidence and consistency.
